This project was born with a clear objective: to adapt a family home to a new stage of life, where the owners—now with no children living at home—needed a more functional, bright, and connected space, without giving up the warmth and character of the original home.

The renovation began with a reorganization of the layout: the living room and master bedroom were expanded, reducing the number of bedrooms, and the kitchen was opened to the dining area to gain spaciousness and maximize natural light. In the living room, a new gas fireplace clad in Emperador marble was integrated, and two custom-designed columns were created that, besides concealing an existing pillar, provide a subtle transition between the living and dining areas, allowing light to flow uninterrupted from the façade to the back of the room.

One of the project’s challenges was maintaining visual and spatial connection between the common areas without sacrificing privacy. The solution came with the incorporation of doors by Albed: positioned between the kitchen-dining area and the entrance hall, these doors allow light to pass through their glass panels, while an aluminum mesh with a textile effect provides privacy and softens the transition between spaces.

The project's materiality is grounded in the original flooring: sucupira wood that the clients wished to preserve. This decision set the tone for the interior design. From there, American walnut wood was integrated, which perfectly complements the sucupira, creating an enveloping and serene atmosphere.

All the furniture was custom-designed, using a coherent palette of materials and tones: walnut, Emperador marble, and lacquers in soft sand hues. The result is an elegant, welcoming, and functional home that reflects the owners’ new way of living.
